Countermeasures Blog Tour Promo by Chris Almeida and Cecila Aubrey

Countermeasure Synopsis:
COUNTERMEASURE--Book 1 in the Countermeasure Series--is The TBR Pile's 2012 Book of the Year.

COUNTERMEASURE is a recipient of the indiePENdents's Seal of Good Writing.

WARNING: Contains scenes of mature subject matter, graphic situations and language. Reader discretion is advised.

In the first novel of the COUNTERMEASURE SERIES, tenacious ex-CIA agent Cassandra James is in hot water. A cyber thief stole sensitive information from her father's top client - information she was supposed to keep secure - and now she could lose her job, even if she is the boss' daughter. The only person who can help her recover the stolen data is sexy NSA analyst Trevor Bauer - a computer mastermind who's broken through her personal security and might break her heart as well.

Trevor is on the hunt for answers to the mystery surrounding his parents' disappearance. Following a promising lead into the missing Bristol files, he accidentally gets on the radar of a woman too hot to handle...and a mercenary willing to do anything to keep both of them from recovering those files.

To track down the thief, Trevor and Cassandra must embark on a harrowing adventure that leads them across the ocean and into a world of intrigue, danger, and passion. But as they close in on their target, their relationship begins to boil, jeopardizing their mission as well as their very lives. Will they learn to trust their instincts - and each other - in order to survive?

The suspense driven COUNTERMEASURE SERIES combines full-length novels and Bytes of Life short stories about sexy, technologically inclined men and women. The series is filled with heart-stopping danger and enough twists and turns to make a hair-raising rollercoaster seem tame. In the series, Trevor Bauer, a tough as nails NSA geek, and his even more tenacious love interest, Cassandra James, are on a quest for clues in the mysterious disappearance of Trevor's parents. Joined by fate, their search drops them into the mysterious and violent world of data espionage, one that tests their love as they sweep the world with romance, sex, and ingenuity to find answers that will have the power to change their lives forever.

Random Facts About Who We Are – Chris Almeida and Cecilia Aubrey

Funny how random facts impact the way we see the world and also seep into our writing. Life experiences also pave the road we travel. In our case, the road has also brought us together as partners in crime.

Cecilia –

1.       I'm cocktail—a mix of Irish (Father) and Spanish (Mother) with a splash of English (Father).
2.       I lived in Spain as an Air Force brat from the ages of 13 to 18.
3.       Many of the trials and tribulations Cassandra experience on the flight to Paris are based in real life. Bumps on the head and cookies included. I love to travel and have been lucky to have visited many countries and places: Canada (Vancouver, Whistler, Montreal, Quebec, Toronto, Milton ), Costa Rica, Nice, France, Monte Carlo, Italy (Portofino, Portoferraio, Sorento, Amalfi, Elba Island, Rome, Pompei, Camogli), Austria (Vienna, Salzburg), Portugal (Lisbon, Sintra), Germany (Wurzburg, Nuremberg, Rosenburg, Munich, Chiemsee, Füssen, Schwangau, Ettal, Rhine Gorge / Sankt Goar)
4.       Due to circumstances beyond my control, I'm sure it is the Empire and Darth Vader's doing, I saw STAR WARS for the first time in 1979.
5.       I consider Music, Reading, Movies, Pizza, and Tapas soulgasmic.
6.       For seven years I worked as a Lifeguard during the summer (yes, I have had to rescue a few including a cocky, weight lifting Air Force dude).
7.       Chris Almeida and I, along with a of couple friends, were tossed from an Irish Pub (granted we were only sitting at our table waiting to pay the tab, but the security guard decided we were a bit on the uhm…tipsy...yeah…tipsy…side.
8.       I have only attended 7 concerts.
9.       I drove a 15-seat passenger commute van (100 miles round trip) for 13 years.
10.   I'm the focus group for Chris's next shower singing recital *grins*

Chris –
1.       My father taught me to read before I was two. My mother continued his legacy by teaching me to read for pleasure. I never stopped reading since.
2.       Began learning to read in English on my own at the age of 5 using my sisters' old English textbooks.
3.       Although I am a certified musicphile, I've never been to a big live concert.
4.       I have physically been to the address we use for our characters' home in Dublin. I was there every weekday from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm for close to four months.
5.       My favorite food of all times is a shell fish only found in the region I come from in Brazil. It's called Sururu and although it is mostly found in the Northeast of Brazil and considered a treat there, it's on the Global Invasive Species Team list in the US.
6.       I have lived in two different cities (in two different countries, different continents) that host massive Oktoberfest festivals each year. Yet, I don't drink beer.
7.       Once owned a HUGE collection of comic books.
8.       Have walked on coral reefs and stepped on sea urchins multiple times. Yep. It does hurt.
9.       Surfing was a big part of my life during my teens.
10.   I don't burn. I tan.

Excerpt

There’s a buzzing sensation when you have chemistry with someone. It’s like there are invisible threads connecting your bodies and igniting into sparks, and the residual pulse bounces back in shock waves, growing stronger with each second.
I felt that with Reno. He stepped so close to me that I remembered how good it felt when he’d held me in his arms. The animalistic look in his eyes captured me like he was a predator and I was prey. He felt it too. I could tell by soft breath he took before he spoke.
“I've always liked hazel eyes,” he said. “Yours look like a sunset over sea-green waters.”
I hit pause. This was a scene I’d be replaying in my head for weeks to come, and I didn't want to ruin the moment by saying something inane. I let him graze his thumb across my mouth. He pulled my lower lip down just enough that his thumb glided across the fleshy inside. Then he rolled his wet thumb across my lip, making what seemed like a casual gesture become the most intimate moment I’d experienced with a man outside of sex.
Staring into Reno’s chocolate eyes up close was like riding on that motorcycle. Intense, sexy, and addictive. When I felt his hand leisurely traveling down the curve of my back, my icy walls began to melt and I warmed to his touch.
I waited for him to make another move, but it never came. He looked at me like something unattainable—the same way I coveted the expensive perfume bottles behind the display counter, or the chocolate macadamia nut cookies at the gourmet shop.
I whirled around and he captured my wrist, gently tugging me back. “Something wrong with the way I touched you?”
“It’s nothing,” I breathed.
But Reno didn’t let go. He stepped closer and lifted my chin. “Did you want me to kiss you?”
“No.”
Reno grinned. “Liar.”

About the Author

This is the segment where you learn a little more about who I am, so here's what I can tell you:  I drink copious amounts of vitamin water placed precariously close to my laptop while writing. These are two healthy habits I have no intention of breaking. I'm a transplant living in the south, but I was born in the 70's to a military dad who moved us around the world.

When I'm not writing (which is all the time), I'm hunting down Indie music, watching movies, reading, eating Tex-Mex, discovering new ways to humiliate myself bowling, and burning up my laptop battery on the Internet. I have a relaxed, easy-going personality and don't like drama. I live with a cat who thinks she is a dog, or a goat (she eats plastic, so I'm not sure which).

Throughout my life, I've had insomnia. Counting sheep never worked and eventually I would imagine those sheep were the sole source of food after an apocalyptic battle where only thousands survived. I made up stories in a futile attempt to bore myself to sleep. The problem was, I got so wrapped up in my "head stories" that I would continue them through the following nights, changing it up each time to make it more exciting. Eventually, I started writing my ideas down - creating short stories, and then I discovered my love for poetry.

It's almost embarrassing how many spiral notebooks and stacks of paper I have of poetry and lyrics.

Another passion: digital art. I design all my book covers, marketing, and series art. I'm a very visual person and pursued photography as an avid hobby for many years.

I am not a YA author (I feel like I have to state this only because I've had a few people ask), but I think it's wonderful there are so many books available to teens in Urban Fantasy and Paranormal.

I am finally doing what I have always wanted to do: giving my characters a pulse through writing full time. I focus on adult urban fantasy romance, but I don't like labels and I enjoy blending genres to break out of the confines of predictability.

But it's what I love to do.

Lucky Number Four by Amanda Jason

Lucky Number Four
Pandora Ann Phillips' life is just normal-crazy

Her mom's a psychic, her dad's mom is a snob, her mom's parental units are "too down to earth" and her best friends are newlyweds. Okay, so her best friends being newlyweds isn't really abnormal, but living with them in a cramped two-bedroom apartment definitely is. Sex, sex, sex is totally on their minds. Actually it's not only on their minds, but it's on the kitchen table, couch, on top of the washer...well, you get the picture.

Being a celibate (not by choice, mind you) full-time college student, and an almost full-time barista, Pandora can't afford to lose anymore sleep. So, she seeks out a new place to lay her head. Enter three "drool worthy" male models that are looking for a fourth roommate and they want her...and won't take no for an answer.

Hilarity ensues as Pandora's life turns completely upside down, and she begins to wonder if it will ever be the same again

Angie J's Reviews:

I received this book from my friend Susan because she said I had to read it.  She knows being a blogger I dont generally buy a book cuz I have so many free ones so she sent it to me and said READ IT!!  SOOOOO I did.  OMG I am so glad I did.  I just finished up an intense read and needed somthing fun.  This book really hit the spot until the sexual chemistry and tension kicked in and then I was a mess...AGAIN!!!

SO this book was sooo original.  I loved the fact she has abilities to "read" people and her mom is a psychic.  I thought that was a new kinda plot and I enjoy new and different.  So Dora has had it with listening to her best friends/hubby and wife duo having sex.  She sees an ad for a roomie needed.  She calls and thinks the girl sounds fun.  She goes to the apartment and is stunned stupid to see 3 hot FAMOUS MODELS there that would be her roomies not the sweet girl giving the tour.  So what does she do?  RUNS FOR THE HILLS!!!!  Well the guys decide she is the one.  She doesnt give a crap if they are rich and famous and beautiful....she doesnt want them.  noone ever doesnt want them...I mean hello remember they are famous and rich male models!!!  Well they basically move her in to their apartment and her bestie/hubby and wife duo too.  The whole book is Dora's POV but all of a sudden we hear one of the guys POV and he is smitten with her...but we have no clue who!!!  Player Drew, English hottie and gentleman Collin or brooding Liam????

I have to tell you I was like "OMG its Drew...no to obvious...It's Collin....no he is ignorning her...It's Liam...damn it he being to quiet and shy......"I kept switiching my mind through the entire book.  Then on halloween they host a Costume Party.  All the guys come dressed as mask wearing musketeers....well....GASP...he kisses her...BUT WHO IT IS DAMN IT!!!!  OMG I was just as perpplexed as Dore...I mean WHO has the lips that made her almost have an O!!??  WHOOOOOOOOOOOO...........

Ok I dont want to spill alot of the dating and house silly stuff because I will end up telling which guy it is....and you need to read this yourself.....like for real!!!  Ok so I will start getting a bit generic....Lets just say Dora and the Guy end up hooking up and having a great time.....But then she freaks cuz he is a beautiful model and she is just PLAIN!!  Well she did start to make me mental when she breaks it off but I did love the twist that brings them back together.

I am telling you the epilogue was awesome......I  cant tell any part of it because it is just so special that you need to read to appreciate it but I am in heaven and I really want to read more because I wannaknow about this couple, and the other 2 guys.  I need them to have an HEA too!!!

Melinda's Review:

I purchased this book after seeing some promos for it on FB stating it was funny and then my fellow blogger said a friend bought it for her to read stating it was great.  So how could I pass it up?

I could not put this down once I picked it up.  It started with Dora listening to her best friends and roommates getting it on.  This leads her to the decision she needs to move out.  She answers a roommate wanted add.  Thinking she would be sharing a room with a nice girl that she talks to on the phone only to realize when she gets to the loft it is with 3 SEXY famous models did I mention they are all males.  She does the only thing she can think of RUNS as fast as her feet will take her.  Well the guys are having no part of it they track her down and not only convince her to move in with them but convince her roommates to movie into an apartment in the building also.  All because Liam has a thing for Lucky Number Four and they have to have a forth roommate. This is where the fun starts.  Dora starts having feeling for a couple of the guys but refuses to act on it.  We also get little snippets that show one of the three guys have a thing for her but have no idea which one it is.

Dora is a sympath and can pick up on people’s feelings and Dora’s mother is a psychic.  Dora’s mother keeps telling her she needs to help Drew and Liam.  Not knowing how to help them she is focused on Colin and after the boys show up dressed alike and masked one of them kiss her and she just knows it is Colin.  I go through this book thinking Oh I know its Liam it’s got to be Liam and then wait no it’s Drew I think it’s Drew, oh but wait now I know it has to be Colin.  Oh the suspense of who it is is just killing me.  I cannot tell you how many times I went back and forth on who the mystery guy was.

Then when I did find out whom it was I was all giddy and happy.  They went away but by him being a model the pressure of the spot light spooks Dora and she does what she does best and RUNS as fast as her feet will go.  Does Dora get her HEA does the Hot model get his girl? Guess you will have to one click it and find out.

I loved this book.  I loved Dora’s crazy family, the Psychic mom, the Grandma that will say anything that pops in her mind without even thinking twice or once for that matter, the Grandmother that is prim and proper and Dora’s three best friends.  I loved them all and how they all interacted with each other and Dora.
