His Tattooed Virgin by Heather Rainier

His Tattooed Virgin (Divine Creek Ranch, #12)
Book Blurb:
Jayne Sheridan intended to wait until her wedding night to give up “the goods.” One life-threatening illness and a decade later, she’s wondering if she’ll ever get married and if she shouldn’t just “go for it” now that she’s cancer-free. Her undeniable attraction to the town tattoo artist has her contemplating getting more than a tattoo.

Seth Carter has crammed a lot of living into his years and had his heart broken in a way that he believes is irrevocable. Jayne confuses and intrigues him but he doesn’t want her to look back with regrets, so he turns down her offer. He doesn’t count on the onslaught of jealousy when Jayne decides to take matters into her own hands. Jayne is his.

When the past treads on his doorstep, can Seth handle unexpected blessings and protect the ones he holds dearest to him?

Melinda's Review:

I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend then was able to meet the author at an off RT signing hosted by Kallypso Masters in Missouri this past May where she signed the book for me *squeal*.  Second note, I didn’t not realized this was a series until I was 90% threw the book, sooo now I get to go back and read the first 11 books.  Yes, that is how good this book was I want, no scratch that, need to go and read her other books.  This book most definitely gets 5 starts from me and more if they were available.

On the outside Seth is the Bad Boy poster child.  I mean come on, Tattoos, goatee, smokin’ body, rides a Harley, owns a Tattoo shop….. tell me that is not a Bad Boy.  Well good thing Ms. Jayne Sheridan, the Liberian, doesn’t read a book by its cover or she would never gotten to know how great Seth really is.  I love how sweet a loving Seth is and how kind and understanding Jayne is.  I also enjoyed seeing how their friends and Jayne jumped in to help Seth put the pieces of his life back together after his ex-girlfriend dropped by for an unannounced visit.

I just loved reading about the other couples in the book too and can’t wait to read their stories.  Heather Rainier has a way of hooking you into a story and not wanting to put it down.  I read this book in one day I just could not set it down.  Time to start reading the other books.

About the Author:

website

Heather Rainier lives and writes in South Central Texas. Her stories offer up the content of her fantasies, with autobiographical humor, triumph and tragedy mixed in.

Heather believes that life doesn’t always present love to us in neat little sanitized packages. Sometimes we have to seize the day, live life with no regrets, forget the past, never give up, learn to trust, and dare to live, even in outrageous circumstances.

When not happily typing at her keyboard, Heather is usually busy corralling her kids, volunteering at local schools, or loving on her smokin’ hot husband, who thankfully loves to cook.

Then Kiss Me by Jade C. Jamison

Then Kiss Me

Book Blurb:
Casey Williams has left a loveless marriage and is trying to rebuild her life. She finds that, even though you can never go home again, you can find lust again, and she finds a love interest in Scott, her coworker. She also discovers his secret, that he’s a drummer for a heavy metal band, and falls hard for him…just in time to find that, between his questionable friends and psychotic maybe-ex-girlfriend, he might not be the right guy for her. But her heart beats like a drum for him, and she finds herself willing to play with fire to get closer.

Warning: Not for the faint of heart! This book contains explicit sex and naughty language. Proceed with caution...if you dare.

Melinda’s Review:

I bought this book just because I loved Jade’s rocker book Bullet and need to read another rocker book.  So thought I would give this one a try.  What can I say I loved this one too!  Don’t get me wrong there were times I was shaking my Nook just wishing it was Casey I was shaking and found myself yelling at her “what are you thinking girl”.   Hello Scott, who wouldn’t love him, he can cook, plays the drums in a heavy metal band, and supper sweet when you get to know him.

Casey realizes her she no longer loves her husband gets a divorce and moves in with her parents.  This only lasted a few days because she got a job at Bob’s Southern BBQ, rented a 2 bedroom house, and puts some of her art work on display for sale.  Enters Scott, who she sees when she is interviewing for the job at Bob’s Southern BBQ.  Casey becomes close friends with Scott’s cousin David who also works at Bob’s.  Things are going good for Casey and Scott then just like everything else in Casey life it starts to fall apart.  So she does what she has to do and runs away, that’s right she runs......Leaves Scott heartbroken and runs.  This is where I start shaking my Nook and wishing I could slap some since into Casey.  Want to find out the rest of the story click on the link below and purchase the book.  Happy Readings.

Some of my favorite lines:

And then the man of dreams stepped into Ed’s office. It might sound cliché, but I’ve gotta say it anyway, he was an Adonis among men. He had short brown hair and was clean shaven, but he had some sideburns that were a little larger than most guys’. God, that was so hot.

I could appreciate how hard these guys were working…two guitarists, a bassist, and, of course, a drummer. But…wait a fucking minute. What the hell? The drummer was-I felt a shiver crawl up my spine and wrench me at the base of the neck-Scott. Holy fucking Shit! He’s never said anything about being in a band, and he hadn’t even said it when he’s invited me to the little shindig.
I froze. Scott was a maniacal on the drums, beating out the kind of rhythm usually demanded by speed metal. Good…no wonder his guns were so well defined.

“Are you coming on to me?”
He smiled back but kept his distance. “Maybe.” Then, “Why?”
Because if you aren’t, I’m going to turn back around and listen to this CD. But if you are, I’m going to Kiss you.” Holy Shit. Had I actually said that? My heart started beating more rapidly.
He stood there for a second, the smile on his face fading in to something else. I saw his pupils grow darker as I sucked in a deep breath. “Then kiss me,” he said.

Everyone knows Erik Andresen’s best shot at an individual medal was back in 2010, before an injury pulled him from the competition. He’s there for his team, but a hot night and a remarkable final training session have him wondering if a gorgeous good-luck charm could give him another chance at the podium. With a little bit of luck, these two might have a shot at something worth more than gold.

Reception and protocol volunteer, Nadia Hoffman, gets up close and personal with the sexy snowboarder to rescue him, but she's not the kind of girl who lets her hormones get in her way. A professional performance could help her land her dream job at Olympics Committee Headquarters, but her new assignment supervising the rambunctious US Snowboarding Team is making that difficult.

Can she see behind the snowman in the community center bathroom and into the warm heart of the man everyone calls Trouble?

The Girl Behind the Gold by Aria Kane

Greek aerial skier Lia Milonas’s parents are about to lose the family farm. Saving it means medaling and landing a huge sponsor. While her no-nonsense attitude has her well on her way to a medal, it hasn’t won her a place in fans' hearts.

“Come back with a story that will make readers cry, or don’t come back.” This is what Brandon James’ boss told him before he left New York to cover the Winter Games for Moment Magazine. With a wink and a smile, he can charm his way into any invite-only party, but that career-making story is nowhere to be found – until he meets Lia.

The two strike a deal that should get them both what they want - but neither would have guessed they’d also find what they need.

Ice Gold by Kara Leigh Miller

Colton Campbell thrives on the fast paced, adrenaline rushed lifestyle of being an Olympic hockey player. Despite Brenna Jessup's abhorrence for the games and the athletes, she's hand-picked as the official photographer for the U.S. Olympic Hockey Team. Now, together, they face a common enemy, one that neither can run from forever. For, even as her enemies exist a continent away, the draw of the Bane in her blood will bring them only a heartbeat from her. But it was the heartbeat beside her that pounded the loudest, and the one that could be her undoing… "So deep was the fine design woven into the very fabric of their blueprint, so precise and sharp were the instruments of Mother Nature, that the danger came not in the divine intention of their form, but in the commune of their unnatural numbers. Dens that size don't exist in nature for a reason. Yet, here one came…" "He was the kind of man that if you saw as a stranger in a room, you allowed yourself that one fleeting moment when you imagine you're flat on your back and pinned firmly beneath him." A Romantica® contemporary erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave

Brenda’s Review

I was invited by the author to review Unscrupulous (book #2).  She said it was a standalone, I’d rather read the book previous, because you know you’ll understand the characters so much better.

Lex is  a fashion designer and has a misunderstanding with her fabric supplies (Massimo) just before the big Fashion Week in New York.  So Lex flies to Massimo’s island.  She has seen him in all of the tabloids, as he is a playboy!  She has also secretly named her sex toys “Massi”!  so she’s got a secret crush on him.

She goes to meet him at his home and is told that he’s on “holiday” but will see her later.  Needless to say she finds him and gets her point made!  Lex is a little spit-fire New Yorker and doesn’t cave!  She tells you like it is!  Massimo is also used to getting his way!  These two knock heads and then make up.  Massimo instantly sees something in Lex!  But he is scared to be in a relationship.....again.  He does not want to get hurt.....again.  Lex makes him an offer that he tries to refuse.

This was a very good story.  I felt a little rushed through the whole “courtship” part.  I wanted to know more details and hear more of their story.

I can’t wait to get started on Unscrupulous.  It was just released last week.

Dead Ever After by Charlaine Harris

Blurb:

 THE FINAL SOOKIE STACKHOUSE NOVEL

There are secrets in the town of Bon Temps, ones that threaten those closest to Sookie—and could destroy her heart....

Sookie Stackhouse  finds it easy to turn down the request of former barmaid Arlene when she wants her job back at Merlotte’s. After all, Arlene tried to have Sookie killed. But her relationship with Eric Northman is not so clearcut. He and his vampires are keeping their distance…and a cold silence. And when Sookie learns the reason why, she is devastated.

Then a shocking murder rocks Bon Temps, and Sookie is arrested for the crime.

But the evidence against Sookie is weak, and she makes bail. Investigating the killing, she’ll learn that what passes for truth in Bon Temps is only a convenient lie. What passes for justice is more spilled blood. And what passes for love is never enough…

Jo-Anna's Revew:

***Possible spoilers***

Okay so I chose to read this book because...well it's the last in the series which I'm very sad over by the way. I started watching the show first and after the first season I found these books through a friend and I'm so thankful for that. The books and the show are completely different as most of you may already know but I love them both just the same. Now for my review...

Now, from reading reviews online, this book hasn't done too well. I personally love it because I love the characters. The story is a little off from the other books (I prefer the beginning of the series) but I still love this book as a whole and I love Charlaine Harris.

So we find out in this book who Sookie chooses...yeah...not too happy about that. I always wanted it to be Eric but really?

With this being the last book in the series, I really don't know how to write this review without giving a lot away so if you haven't read the other books, I suggest not reading any further of this review.

I wish there was more Eric in this book. He doesn't seem to have gotten enough page time for me. Of course, a whole book about just him would be fine with me too.

Sookie gets blamed for the murder of a friend, Arlene (love her in the show by the way, not so much in the books) and Sookie gets released on bail (obviously). I dunno. I loved the book but apart of me felt like something was missing.

If you read the other books, I suggest reading this one just cause it's the last one. I do still love the series as a whole though. :)

Author Information:

Charlaine Harris (born November 25, 1951 in Tunica, Mississippi) is a New York Times bestselling author who has been writing for over twenty years. She was raised in the Mississippi River Delta area. Though her early works consisted largely of poems about ghosts and, later, teenage angst, she wrote plays when she attended Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. She began to write books a few years later.
After publishing two stand-alone mysteries, Harris launched a lighthearted series "starring" Georgia librarian Aurora Teagarden, with Real Murders, a Best Novel nominee for the 1990 Agatha Awards. Harris wrote eight Aurora titles. In 1996, she released the first of the much darker Shakespeare mysteries, featuring the amateur sleuth Lily Bard, a karate student who makes her living cleaning houses. Shakespeare's Counselor, the fifth--and last-- was printed in fall 2001.
After Shakespeare, Harris created The Sookie Stackhouse urban fantasy series about a telepathic waitress who works in a bar in the fictional Northern Louisiana town of Bon Temps. The first of these, Dead Until Dark, won the Anthony Award for Best Paperback Mystery in 2001. Each book follows Sookie as she tries to solve mysteries involving vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural creatures. The series, which now numbers nine titles, has been released worldwide.
Sookie Stackhouse proved to be so popular that Alan Ball, creator of Six Feet Under, announced he would undertake the production of a new show for HBO based upon the books. He wrote and directed the pilot episode for that series, True Blood, which premiered in September of 2008. It was an instant success and was quickly picked up for a second season.
In October 2005, Harris's new mystery series about a young woman named Harper Connelly debuted with the release of Grave Sight. Harper has the ability to determine the cause of death of any body. There are now three Harper titles (GRAVE SIGHT, GRAVE SURPRISE, AN ICE COLD GRAVE) with a 4th (GRAVE SECRET) to be released in 2009.
Harris has also co-edited three very popular anthologies with her friend Toni L.P. Kelner. The anthologies feature stories with an element of the supernatural, and the submissions come from a rare mixture of mystery and urban fantasy writers.
Professionally, Harris is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the American Crime Writers League. She is a member of the board of Sisters in Crime, and alternates with Joan Hess as president of the Arkansas Mystery Writers Alliance. Personally, Harris is married and the mother of three. She lives in a small town in Southern Arkansas and when she is not writing her own books, she reads omnivorously!

"Others of Edenton Book 1.5 - Shadow Fall by Brandy Rivers

Shadows Fall (Others of Edenton 1.5)

Book Blurb:
18+ Novelette

Amethyst Lakes is a nymph with a problem. She left her ex-boyfriend when he started to smother her. Nothing she says seems to keep him away.
Carl needs Amethyst more than he needs to breathe, but she just doesn’t get it. He’ll stop at nothing to make her stay.
An old friend and teenage crush will keep her safe until Amethyst can decide how to deal with Carl once and for all.

A pretty little nymph, crazy stalker ex, a cocky mage, and a whole lot of trouble.
Melinda’s Review:

I was given this book by the Author to give a truthful review.

This book is a short story that gives you some insight into Amethyst, a Nymph, past and sets you up for the next book Shadows of the Past.  Oh and you get to see a little more of Preston which I like seeing this softer more caring side of him, because he was kind of a cocky ass toward Fallon in In Too Deep.  Although I really liked Jess and Fallon’s tough girl attitudes, I really liked Ame too.  She is so sweet and you can tell she does not like to use her powers. It makes her feel cheap and dirty when she uses them.  At the same time you can see Amethyst has some spunk to her when she is pushed far enough.  This is one of my favorite few lines in the book that shows that when she is trying to get Carl to leave.

“No. You need to get a grip on reality, and leave. We’re done. I can’t do it anymore. You said you would give me whatever I wanted. Well, what I want is for you to leave.”

Carl, Ame ex-boyfriend, is a manipulative warlock that can’t take no for an answer and doesn’t know when he is no longer wanted.  In the end of this book he sets into motion a whole mess of things and I cannot wait to see what happens and how everything ends up in Shadows of the Past.

This was a great short story and a great way to introduce and get readers excited about the next book.  Just enough back ground to get to know each person and enough of a tease to want more.  I can’t wait tell November to read the rest of this story.  This gets a 5 star rating from me.
