Review and Interview for Second Bite by Lauren Stewart

Second Bite
Book Blurb:
A second lifetime…

Party planner, Olivia, would rather be getting a root canal than be surrounded by vampires at the 1500th Re-Birthday party of their leader. With access to synthetic and donor blood, vampires are out and proud, living amongst the humans they used to secretly feed upon. And no one besides Olivia seems to have a problem with them.

As if her trust issues aren’t enough to cope with tonight, she also has to deal with her co-worker Daniel. Gorgeous, kind and honest, he’s the perfect guy . . . except for the fact that he’s dead and his diet consists solely of blood. Oh, and those long, romantic walks on the beach that women fantasize about would turn him into dust.

Daniel hates who and what he is. There is no redemption possible, no way for him to be the man Olivia deserves. But, damn it, that’s exactly who he wants to be.

Just when she finally accepts him for who she thinks he is, everything she fears becomes real. How can Daniel overcome two lifetimes of guilt and be the man she needs?

Angie J's Review:

I am a big fan of Lauren Stewart and was excited when she sent me this book for a review.  I am a big Paranormal reader and so a vampire novella is totally up my alley.  This book is pretty much told in 2 parts....part one is the party and part two is after the party.  Part one is hot and sexy but part two is emotional and full of longing.

Where do I begin?  Oh I know it is  to tell you that this author is amazing!!!  I loved this book.  Daniel is a hot vampire who works for a party planners.  Olivia is his boss and he is totally hot for her.  They are planning the first ever Happy Re-Birthday Party for the leader of all vampires named Magnus.  She is a closet bigot and hates vampires BUT at the same time has naughty thought about Daniel.  Well the two of them end up making a "non-date" (by the way my favorite scene how he goes about asking her out) but decide to just skip to the sex....lol.  Anyway, while they have slipped  away for naughty time, some bad things happen. Daniel makes a huge sacrifice to keep Olivia safe.  Daniels sacrafice allows him a second chance of life.  The second part of the novel Daniel is searching for his way back to Olivia while she is searching for Daniel.

If you haven't read anything by this author I would recommend it 100%.   I have appointed myself President of her fan club....let's be honest ! am sooo not a secretary kinda girl :)  I have her books on auto buy at this point.  She writes hot scenes, emotional longing and amazing characters with depth.  She also had a knack for throwing in the amazing twist, to make you, the reader scream~!!!!  Any who if you read this blog you must want me opinion....so buy the book peps!!!

Interview with the Author:

Hello and thanks for answering a few serious and silly questions for us....First question, Do you plan to write more vampire novels or was Daniel your only novel as of right now?

Before I wrote this, I never thought I’d write a vampire novel. I love them and think there are some amazing ones out there. But because there are so many of them, unless a writer tackles them in a totally different way, they all blur together.

That being said, I’ve been working on the plotline of a series of books that would include a lot of paranormal critters. And the hero of the first book is a vamp.

What are you currently working on?

I’m in the trenches with the third book in the Hyde series. And I’ll be there until it’s done. There’s still a lot of finagling to do on that one.

When you write do you plot or seat of your pants write?

I do a mixture. With a complicated series, I have to know where I’m going, where I want the series to end with. But one of the biggest thrills of writing is not knowing exactly how I’m going to get there. My characters are such fully-formed people in my mind, they tend to determine their own paths, regardless of where I want them to go. When I allow them to stay true to their personalities, they often make choices that make my life harder. That doesn’t make me sound crazy, does it? If not, I’m sure another one of my answers will. *giggle*

Silly and random question time......

Ok so looking at all the characters of your other novels I had read...what celebrity would you say was Daniel and Olivia in Second Bite?  Mitch and Eden?  Carter? from Hyde/Jekyll.

Matt Bomer would make a great Daniel. He’s superb-looking, but still manages to have a ‘normal’ guy attitude.

Olivia could be played by any number of actresses, but not a starlet. Olivia balances being a mom with having a career, so I picture her as someone like Christina Hendricks.
As I wrote Mitch, I pictured Bradley Cooper. I have an unnatural obsession with Bradley Cooper—he’s sarcastic, gorgeous, but can also do tortured really well. But he’s too old (Dang, I hate that I said that). So my first choice would be Ian Somerhalder. Stephen Amell would also be a good choice.
As for Eden, I’d love someone like Natalie Portman, although Evangeline Lilly was born to be an urban fantasy heroine.

As for Carter, I’d go with someone like Hunter Parrish from Weeds.

Who are your favorite authors?

In terms of PNR/UF, I have to go with JR Ward and Karen Marie Moning. Those women get so deep in their characters’ heads, pull no punches, and really know how to break the rules. Plus, they create the hottest men ever. They taught me a lot.

If you could pick the book that would put you on the NYT Best Sellers list what book would it be?  Past, present or future novels can be discussed.

Wow, great question! I have a special relationship with Hyde. It breaks a lot of rules, has a lot of subtext, and was almost permanently put on a shelf to gather dust. So it would be especially profound if that was the one to go ‘mainstream’. My dream is that when people are done reading the story, they think about their own lives, their own sense of ethics, as well as the morality our society dictates.

After earning degrees in Fine Arts and English, Lauren Stewart wanted to see the world. A lack of funds meant that she didn’t get far. She spent two years traveling around Mexico, the Caribbean, and Canada—first as a choreographer and then an English teacher—meeting folks from all the places she couldn’t afford to go to. But that time was highly useful—she learned about herself, other people, and how insane life actually is.

Lauren reads in almost every genre. So naturally, her writing reflects that. With every book, every story, you'll find elements of other genres--fantasy, mystery, romance, paranormal, suspense, YA, women's literature, all with a touch of humor because what doesn’t kill us, should make us laugh.

I’m my little brother’s temporary mother since our mom doesn’t give a crap about either of us. And I’m that temporary girl all the guys want to get with because I give it up so easily. According to the rumors, at least.

But now I’m the temporary girlfriend of Drew Callahan, college football legend and all around golden guy. He’s beautiful, sweet—and he’s hiding way more secrets than I am. He’s brought me into this fake life where everyone seems to hate me. And everyone seems to want something from him. The only thing he seems to want though is…

Me.

I don’t know what to believe anymore. All I know is, I think Drew needs me. And I want to be there for him.

Forever.

Angie J's Review:

So I have to admit the reason I chose to review this book was the hot cover AND the interesting concept of the book...pay someone to be a fake girlfriend....errr....pay the town whore to be your fake girlfriend.  Interesting and yes Pretty Woman like.....  I have to say I really enjoyed this book.  There was a lot of things going on between the characters.  No it wasn't all sex issues at first but just hidden demons and everyone has demons.

Drew is a hot mess who is totally shut down.  A robot....emotionless.....and I have to ask myself why?  I mean he has it all so why is he so closed off.   Fable is so lonely that she does have relations with boys because it makes her feel needed and loved.....she has a crap home life and is essentially raising her kid brother.  When Drew offers her $3000 to be a fake girlfriend, she jumps at the money.  Somewhere along the way the two of them forge a bond when Fable realizes he needs to be saved.  The two of them are sooo right and yet sooo wrong for each other....Marshmallow will never be the same for me.....

Drew's family consists of his father and stepmother who has raised him.  She is FREAKY and something isn't right at all with her.  The family is very messed up and Fable is there to help Drew deal with everything all the while he is also helping her deal with her insecurities.

So the story ends with a GIANT cliffhanger and I am left saying "BOOK 2 NOW PLEASE!!"  I will definitely be keeping with Drew and Fable .  I need to know if she Marshmallows him.......you know you are like WTH is she talking about!!  Well read and you will understand!!!

Opal by Jennifer Armentrout

Book Blurb:

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

Jo-Anna's Review:

Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh! Seriously. What an ending! Wow. The original reason I decided to start this series is because my friend was reading this very book and she was freaking out over the ending. Curiosity got the best of me and I'm hooked! This is the 3rd book in the Lux series and I'd have to say again, that this is probably one of the best YA series that I have ever read for the paranormal/supernatural genre.
Daemon is still intensely hot and I just love Katy. She's witty and strong willed. I enjoy her humor and her sarcasm. Also, I feel that I can relate to her seeing as she loves books and has a review blog. The passion between Daemon and Katy is still scorching through this book and the way Jennifer describes kisses? WOW! And again, the ending!!! Yes the ending wasn't the greatest only because it leaves you on a HUGE cliffhanger but on the other hand, I loved it also. I love being thrown for a loop. I knew that something major was going to happen but I just wasn't sure what. Either way, I'm dying for the next book!

The Cresent Chronicals Book Review, Giveaway and Blog Tour by Alyssa Rose Ivy

Flight Book 1
Flight (The Crescent Chronicles, #1)
Book Blurb:
Sometimes you just have to take flight.

A summer in New Orleans is exactly what Allie needs before starting college. Accepting her dad’s invitation to work at his hotel offers an escape from her ex-boyfriend and the chance to spend the summer with her best friend. Meeting a guy is the last thing on her mind—until she sees Levi.

Unable to resist the infuriating yet alluring Levi, Allie finds herself at the center of a supernatural society and forced to decide between following the path she has always trusted or saving a city that might just save her
Angie J's Review:

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

I just finished this book and am literally going NUTS wanting to read book 2...glad I got it as an ARC copy.  I loved Levi and Allie.  Levi is the hot guy all the girl want and Allie has sworn off guys.  He does everything he can to sweet talk her and all she does is rebuff him.  One of my favorite lines is in the beginning when Owen informs Allie most girls are eating out of Levi's hand. She said well not me.  He proceeds to laugh and tells Levi Allie isn't interested.  The banter the two of them have is hilarious.  Levi KNOWS Allie is interested but because Allie knows Levi knows she antagonizes his "male ego" all the time.

Levi is an important member of the paranormal community and tells Allie about his paranormal side.  She is enthralled with it and they begin dating.  Allie continually calls it a fun summer fling but all the time wishing for more.  Levi is terrified of losing Allie and takes the choice out of her hands as to whether she should go to Princeton. When she finds out what he has done it causes some danger for her with other shifters in the world.

The book is amazing!!  I feel like I am rambling but I just cant get over how great the writing is.  The pacing and flow were amazing.  If you like Paranormal, this series will live up to the hype.  If you like YA then you will enjoy as well.  I am not a very big YA reader and was drawn to the Paranormal aspect.  I just can't say enough about this series and I will definitely reread it.
Book 2 Focus

Focus (The Crescent Chronicles, #2)
Book Blurb:
Freshman year of college is hard even when you're not tied to the future king of a supernatural society.

Allie dives into college head first with Hailey as her roommate and the city of New Orleans as her backyard. As things within The Society heat up, Allie realizes that whether she’s with Levi or not, she's in far too deep to turn back.

Angie J's Review:

I got this book from the author for a truthful and honest ARC review.

OMG I am flipping out... I mean FLIPPING out!!  The ending of this book left me completely insane!!!  UGH!!!  I. NEED. BOOK. 3. NOW!!!!  I also must declare Levi is my new book boyfriend!!  I am totally in love with him...Watch out Ms. Allie!!

Ok so last book Levi tricked Allie into something (dont wanna spoil it).  He pretty much was trying to make it right with Allie the whole first half of the book.  I will admit I was getting a bit angry at Allie for leading my boyfriend on but persistence wins out and Allie forgives
Levi. (Cheering) Everything is going really well and they are definitely a couple after taking a quick work related trip to help Levi's position in the paranormal community.  Allie still doesn't want to stop being a typical college freshman so she goes to a party.  There is an attempt on her life but luckily all is ok until ....dun dun dun........Allie is kidnapped for a 2nd time.  Poor girl...listen to my Boyfriend Levi already!! You think everything is going to be all happy ending but NOOOOOO  we get another curve ball that totally left me gasping!!  I mean GASPING!  The last page of the book left me going nuts!!!  I mean nuts!!!!  Have I mentioned I loved this book???

Ok I am not a big YA girl but holy moly this book was amazing.  BUY BUY BUY.....READ READ READ but please stay away from my boyfriend Levi!!  Oh yeah I know I am WAY older then Levi but I am ok with being a cougar *wink* Thanks!

GIVEAWAY, Guest Posting and Book Review of An Affair Across Times Square by Rachell Nichole

Book Blurb:
Layla Morgan is tired of getting into trouble, and getting hurt. And she fears her wild nature is going to strike yet again. But maybe this time, she’s finally met the guy that can stand close enough to touch her inner flames, and not get burned. The man across Times Square seems enthralled by her wildness instead of scared in the face of it. He can’t seem to look away as she shows him just how much fun she can have… with herself.

After one glance of silky skin and talented fingers, Tyler Lachlan doesn’t stand a chance of resisting the delicious distraction of the mystery woman from the Marietta Hotel. He’s sure there’s more to her than her sultry voice and mahogany thighs, but he doesn’t know if he’s willing to risk his career to find out.

What begins as a voyeuristic affair across Times Square develops into something more

Angie J's Review:

What would you do if you found out the person you are attracted to was your opponent in a trial...not just a small trial but a huge trial???  Well that is what happened to poor Layla and Tyler.  They both have seen each other and cant stop thinking about each other.  Talk about a big "oh crap" moment!!!
Layla and Tyler both feel that their side to the case is the winning or correct side.  I like that the trial doesn't overshadow the story too much but it is in there when it was important to the story.  I also loved the amazing, hawt, steamy sex between the characters.  If you haven't' read anything by Rachell Nichole I will say you are defo missing out.  She is a very skillful writer when she gets to the "good stuff" in he stories :)
I found this to be a quick read.  I loved how the characters in the story are now perfect by any stretch of the imagination.  They both had flaws but who doesn't right?  I mean I know I am not perfect at all!!!!!  Another thing I love about this author is her ability to throw a quick twist into the story and them BOOM everything changes.  This book also has a major twist and it leaves you saying "Niiiicely played Ms. Nichole, Nicely played!"

Authors Guest Posting:

Hi Twinsie Talk and hello to your readers,

Thank you so much for having me by today to talk about my first erotic romance, An Affair Across Times Square which came out this past August. This was my first foray into erotic romance, and it was a blast. I’ve always written pretty explicit love scenes in my romances, but they were limited to one or two scenes in the book. With this one, I think there were eight, maybe even nine love scenes. Which is a heck of a lot, for sure. I really enjoyed writing this book, and about eight months later, I wrote my second one, and I just finished my third. I am also now working on the fourth erotic romance of my career, and it’s the sequel to An Affair Across Times Square. The working title is now An Engagement in Paris. What do you think, readers? Is that as good a title as book one? I’m planning on writing a whole series of erotic romances based on An Affair Across Times Square which will be called the Marietta Hotels series. Each book will take place at a Marietta Hotel around the world. Some will focus on secondary characters from the first and second books, and others will be set at the same hotels but with very different characters. It’s proven to be a very interesting set up for me and I’ve enjoyed writing the sequel.

An Engagement in Paris will star Mandy Lachlan, Tyler’s sister, and her French fiancé Julien Chevalier. Here’s the blurb:

All Mandy Lachlan wanted was her own identity. All she had to do was run away to Paris to find it. Instead, she finds love, a baby, and a marriage proposal.

Julien Chevalier needs to be free of Paris and his life there. As soon as he graduates, he’s moving to New York. But when he falls for a young American professor in love with the charm of his birth city, he’s determined to sway her back to the states with him.

But will her lukewarm reception to marriage plans make him run away to New York without her?

I’d love to add a giveaway to the post – leave a comment with your e-mail address to be entered to win!

Thanks so much for having me stop by and I hope you enjoyed reviewing the book. Readers, if you’d like to pick up a copy of An Affair Across Times Square it’s available at these places…
