Because of You (Playing with Fire #2) by TE Sivec ***BLOG TOUR***

Madison Says Blog Tour

Because of You (Playing With Fire, #2)

Book Blurb:

Brady Marshall has made a career of playing it safe. When he decides to do something rash and becomes a Navy SEAL, he thinks he's finally escaped the rigid structure of the high society life his parents forced down his throat. All he does is trade in one set of rules for another. He follows military protocol to a T, but it still results in the death of an entire team of Navy SEALS and puts his best friends directly in harm's way. He’s struggled to stay afloat and not drown in grief, guilt, and booze, but he's losing that battle quickly. When his baby sister flees her abusive husband and shows up on his doorstep with his young niece in tow, he has no choice but to clean up his act. He will stop at nothing to protect them and never let them down again, even if it means taking a job that goes against everything he believes in. If protecting a pop star princess who thinks she's better than everyone means he can keep a roof over their head, what other choice does he have?

Layla Carlysle has lived a life of luxury. She's been a star since the young age of fifteen, and every record she releases shoots straight to the top of the charts. She has people surrounding her every single day telling her how amazing she is, how beautiful she is, and how lucky she is, but she’s never felt more alone in her entire life. She wants nothing more than to break free and do what she really wants to do: write her own music, sing her own songs, and find a way to finally be happy with her life. The only thing standing in her way is her mother, Eve Carlysle. Eve has controlled every single aspect of her daughter’s life and will stop at nothing to achieve fame and fortune, even if that means using her daughter to get there. When an overly-amorous fan’s letters become increasingly more sinister, Brady will have to suck up his opinion of how the other half lives to take the job seriously. The pair will need to learn to trust each other and put aside their differences before the letters become a reality and someone’s life is in jeopardy.

Brady has been to hell and back, and he refuses to let anyone else get close to him again. Layla has never lived her life for herself, and the emptiness is threatening to break her for good.

Sometimes our lives are already planned for us, but because of you, all of that could change in an instant

Angie E's Review:

FIRST OFF I HAVE TO SAY……. I’M SOOOOOOOOOOOO FAN GIRLY =)……….. I WAS THANKED IN THE ACKNOWLEDGMENTS !!!! OMG !!!!! FOR REAL !!!!! LIKE MY WHOLE FREAKING NAME !!!!!! I FREAKING LOVE MY HEAD HOOKER TARA SIVEC =)

Now on the my review ………………

I started off reading this thinking WTH? What’s going on? I was kind of confused… NOW …. It’s ok. I’m ALWAYS confused…. LOL… Tara never leaves me confused for long though. As she introduced the characters I was falling in love with them.

Brady Marshall of course … I already loved…. SHHHHHH…. don’t tell GARRET… from the first book of this series. He is dealing with his emotional scars from his past and trying to deal with them the best he can. He’s doing well until his next job with the GORGEOUS LAYLA starts .

“ I’ve never wanted anyone as much as you. I’m falling fast for you, and it scares the fucking shit out of me. I will do whatever it takes to change this life for you, to make it into something you can enjoy and not have to feel guilty about. “ Brady

Layla Carlysle is ….. Well … she broke my heart from the very beginning. I kept thinking AWWW how sad is that =( . She is a broken soul. Years of feeling unwanted and unloved has left her with some emotional scars. She doesn’t trust easy and is scared by how much she is trusting Brady.

“Because of you, I am stronger than I’ve ever been. Because of you, I can finally live my own life and make my own choices. Because of you being here right now, coming here tonight, even though it took you long enough I know that I never want to be without you again” Layla
This story while it doesn’t have as many twist and turns as the first in the series definitely kept my brain working on the WHO DID IT? WHOSE DOING IT? And WHY ARE THEY DOING IT ? I was immediately forming my opinions on who I thought was behind the whole STALKER thing but as any great story you change your mind several times before the BIG REVEAL. As Brady is hired to protect Layla and do some investigating, he soon realizes he mostly wants to INVESTIGATE what’s under Layla’s clothes. The chemistry between the two is SMOKING HOT. The scenes between the two leaves you breathless as if YOU need a smoke afterwards =) . As the love between them progresses Brady struggles with his feelings for Layla and trying to do the job he was hired to do.

While doing the investigating Brady discovers the secrets and answers to Layla’s past and her Mother’s involvement in it all. As always everything comes out at the end all questions answered. My only issue was being TOTALLY confused to the point I was like MIND BLOWN in a WTF moment. (no spoilers =) , but you will KNOW when you read it ) After finishing this book (and reading the SPEAK PEAK into book 3 ) YES that’s right book 3.… WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…. I CAN’T WAIT…. Ok back to THIS book. After finishing this book I will say I give it 4 stars.. ITS AWESOME…. Not that I expecting anything LESS. Tara Sivec has amazing talent when it comes to writing in this genre. CONGRATS TARA FOR YOUR SUCCESS WITH THIS SERIES…..

Angie J's Review:

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

I was soooooooooo excited to get this book.  I remember sitting and reading book 1 and falling in love with Garrett and Parker.  The chemistry and heat was AMAZING!!!!  So needless to say the anticipation for this book was very very high.  I loved Brady in book 1 and was excited to see him get his ass kicked by love like Garrett.

The story was kinda of slow to get started but since we didnt' know Brady/Layla and their lives, I was happy to "buckle in for the ride."  Basically Layla has a freaky stalker and Brady is hired by her mom-ager to find out who it is. Finn is Layla's bestie from back in the day.  He is also who everything thinks is her "bed buddie" which is sooooo far from the truth...........

The story pretty much is chugging along with fingers pointing here and there at who is helping the stalker and making you wonder why they want to hurt Layla.  Brady is fighting the growing attraction but fears letting another client down since he has had bad luck in his life with protecting loved ones.  Layla is laying her soul bare for Brady and can't believe she has let her guard down becasue noone sees the REAL Layla.

The chemistry these two share was a pretty nice sizzle but not an epic sizzling skillet.  I loved when Layla is bitching to Finn about what an ass Brady is and Finn says "so you pretty much want to do him right?" ...I had to giggle because I was sooo thinking that.

The ending of the novel is when all the real action happens.  You find out the who and why of the stalking...plus some pretty CRAY CRAY facts about people in the novel.  I will admit to being a little confused at the ending because the books made me think that something bad had happened but it turns out it didnt....????  I was cracking up at the sneak peep into book 2...it looks like it is going to be hilarious!!!!!

Jo-Anna's Review:

I absolutely loved this book! I chose to read it cause well, the author rules and I loved the first book, so it was a given that I would read the second one. I really like how this series is going and I hope it is a series.

Tara does it again with action, humor, love and of course, HOT SEX!

I just love Brady and Layla. They are good for each other.

Layla is a musical star and has a super creepy and disturbing stalker problem so Brady's job is to protect her. Once Brady gets through her walls, chemistry and love blossoms and it's...*swoon* so romantic.

“I’ve wanted to bury myself inside of you since the first moment you and your attitude walked into the room.”

Holy crap balls batman is Brady ever hot. The things he said to Layla...wow. *fans self*

Also, super creepy stalker guy/moment made me freak out at work. Through the whole book, there was something off about a certain character and once you find out that a certain someone has something to do with the stalker issue, I very loudly yelled, "I KNEW IT!!!!" My poor co-workers.

Anyways, I LOVED THIS BOOK AND CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!!! <---- Definitely deserved shouty capitals.

Book Blurb:

Claire Nixon is only twenty-one, but her heart has been shattered and put back together more times than she can count. Finding solace in meditation and a change of location, she thought she had buried her painful secret for good.

Then she met the persistent and sexy Adam Parker. Adam’s pursuit of Claire’s heart and her secret nearly destroyed them, but their love was relentless.

With no more secrets between them, Claire and Adam thought they had it all figured out. Though they knew they’d never be whole again, their love had survived the test. Until Claire’s rock star ex-boyfriend, Chris Knight, came back.

Now Chris has promised to mend the final piece of Claire’s broken heart as only he can. With Claire attending college a hundred miles away from Adam and Adam’s busy travel schedule, Chris’s offer looks more and more enticing.

Chapter 12 - Chris

“I’m telling you, that’s not my mic. That’s Jake’s. Mine is the 5200. Please get my mic.”

The new crewmember keeps mixing up my mic with Jake’s. This is the third time he’s done it this week and I’m about to lose my shit. Xander had the brilliant idea of hiring local sound and backline crews we’ve never worked with for this Home Sweet Home tour, to support the local economy, but I don’t need this kind of stress right now. I just want this tour over with.

I’m nervous as hell. Not only am I going to be jamming with the legendary Neil Hardaway, but Claire will be out there watching me. My palms are sweating and I haven’t even tuned up.

Keith brings the correct mic this time and I slide it into the mic stand. I sit down on my stool and rest Lucille, my Gibson SG electric guitar, in my lap. I only use the stool for acoustic sets, but I’m feeling a little unsteady on my feet today. Keith hands me the amp cable and I plug in.

I brush my fingers lightly over the strings and the sound echoes through the empty club. Nothing in this world is more soothing to me than holding a guitar in my hands, except being inside Claire or even lying next to her. The worst part of being apart from her this past year was the knowledge that I probably never would have gotten where I am if we’d stayed together. My songwriting improved by a million percent after we broke up. There really is nothing more inspiring to an artist than a shattered heart.

By the time I’m done tuning the guitar, Jake and Tristan are on stage and ready for a warm-up. We’re not performing any of my songs today. The studio put too hard of a pop spin on most of the songs on the Relentless album. Neil Hardaway is a local blues legend. He can’t play that shit. He actually called me himself last night, and I nearly pissed my pants, to tell me what we would be playing. We rehearsed last night in his home studio and I swear I had an out-of-body experience, as if I were watching someone else living their dream.

“Firefly,” I say over my shoulder and I immediately hear the clack of Jake’s drumsticks behind me and the shuffle of Tristan’s feet to my left as they prepare.

“Firefly” is one of the many songs I wrote about Claire where I changed a lot of the details so she wouldn’t know it was about her. This song is about a girl I call Firefly who writes me love notes and leaves them in random places for me to find. Of course, in the end, she leaves a note that’s not a love note at all. Claire used to send me random texts with random words—anagrams. I had to rearrange the letters to figure out what she was trying to tell me. It was one of our favorite games. She always tried to use the longest words to make it difficult for me to guess. The last text she sent me after we broke up was a one-word text, but it wasn’t an anagram: Sorry.

When we finish warming up, Neil Hardaway strolls in looking like a fucking pimp. He’s got more soul than any white man I’ve ever met. And, man, is he white! I don’t think Neil Hardaway’s face has seen a ray of sunshine in fifteen years. He’s wearing a midnight blue suit with a thin black tie, sunglasses, and black newsboy cap. I hope I’m that cool when I’m fifty-seven years old.

“What’s up, brother?” he says in that smooth, soulful twang. “You ready to turn these girls inside out?”

We shake hands then I nod at Keith for him to take my stool off the stage. Neil laughs, a raspy laugh, as another crewmember races up the steps onto the stage and hands him his guitar: a baby blue ES-345.

“Them girls waiting outside are about ready to tear the doors off this mother,” Neil continues.

I’m a little star struck, though not as bad as I was when I first met him yesterday. “Not interested,” I mutter as I pull a fresh pick out of my pocket and rub it between my fingertips to warm the plastic.

I’m not interested tonight, not when one of those girls waiting outside could possibly be Claire. I told her to come through the rear entrance, but she insisted on not getting special treatment. She probably doesn’t want anyone to get the wrong idea about us, afraid it will get back to surfer boy.

“Chris?”

Keith is looking at me weird as if he’s been trying to get my attention.

“What’s up?”

“There’s a girl out back asking for you.”

I can’t help but smile as I toss the pick to Keith and he catches it in one hand. “Take me to her.”

Jo-Anna's Review:

I got asked to do a review of this book by the author and the being a HUGE fan of the BDSM genre, I had to say yes and I'm glad that I did.

Ella travels to Bucharest to meet her Master for the very first time in person and wow...can we say HOT?? I really liked this book and I thought the author did a good job.

It's a short story and you see how them meet in person and they're interaction with each other. You also see Ella experiencing being a submissive in real life, instead of just on the computer.

My only issue is that I want to know more!! I messaged the author instantly and told her I was done and that I couldn't wait to hear more from Ella and her Master.

I really hope that they continue their D/s relationship and I can't wait for the next book!

Angie J's Review:

I was given this book for an honest review for this blog tour.

I will say the way the book started out was pretty intense.  "Jess" locked in a closet listening to her step-brother, who has been abusing her, murder her best friend.  WOW was all I thought.  Then the story moves to Jess, after she has run away from her political family into hiding.  She has decided to be an island and stay alone.  She refuses to let anyone else in after Faith's death.  Well guess what?  Her shell cracks.  She lets Carlie in who becomes one of her dearest and best friends.  Then guess what?  Not 1 but 2 Alpha Males begin to pursue her.    Cas who only wants her in the bedroom and that is it.  Mitch who wants her forever and to own her heart.  Well ladies and Gents, the book is called Terrible Love right?  So who do you think she wants?  Yup Cas.  Terrible Love indeed it is.  He is so aloof but you know he wants her but why wont he suck it up and admit it?  HRMMMM  he has secrets!!??  Then there is Mitch who is perfect on paper but starts sending out "Creepy" vibes so I was like WTH???  Now there is also super jock Brock who has decided he hates Jess and makes it his life's job to hurt/embarrass/humiliate her.  All these men and the poor girl is also on the look out for her step-brother since they are hunting for her............

Now a side plot that is running all through the story is a bunch or murdered co-ed students.....female students.  When there is an arrest me and Jess both say "Bull" to who they arrested.  I will say the plots to this story were pretty traditional and nothing that I didn't see coming until the end!!!!  When you find out about Mitch's involvement in the story plots, Cas' secrets and then meet the step-brother I remember shaking my head and saying "nicely played".

New Species Book 10 - Moon by Laurann Dohner

**Ellora's Cave Release Day Review**

Moon (New Species, #10)

Book Blurb:

Book 10 in the New Species series. While each NS book is a standalone, the greatest enjoyment will come from reading them in series order. Dr. Joyce Yards has never met anyone as irresistible as 466. Their therapy sessions are growing hotter, his raw sexual hunger becoming aggressive, and he refuses to discuss anything except the possibility of getting her naked. Joy understands the dire consequences if she indulges her passion. It will break her heart but she must walk away. Moon has been drugged, his memory shattered, and he’s now little more than feral, a dangerous threat to everyone. In their need for help, the NSO doctors turn to the only female Moon ever cared about—the one who left him behind two years ago. Moon isn’t the same male Joy once knew. There are no rules now. If sex tames the wild beast and triggers his fractured memories, allowing him moments of lucidity, then Joy will give him everything, body and soul. She’ll do whatever it takes to save him—even at the cost of her own life. A Romantica® paranormal erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave

Melinda's Review:

I was given this book as an ARC.  I was asked to give a truthful review of the novel.

I have read all 9 previous New Species book.  I was so excited to read and review Moon.  The book opens with 466, Moon, being forced to endure therapy sessions with Dr. Joyce Yards.  The only thing he wants to talk about is what he wants to do to her.  Joy ends up falling for 466; however, her ethics will not let her cross that line and walks away during the night with no goodbye or explanation.

Two years later:  Dr. Yards gets the call that Moon needs her help when he is shot with an unknown drug and is feral when she gets to Homeland.  The only thing that Moon responds to is Joy’s body.  She decides that she will do whatever, and I mean whatever, is needed to help him. Since there is no longer a Doctor/patient relationship, she will not be crossing that line.  Joy realizes quickly the only way she can get Moon to communicate is with her body.

I love the friendship we see between Moon and his best friend, Harley.  Harley is protective over Moon to the point he is more than ticked that Joy is “teasing” Moon with her tactics when he finds her in a precarious position with Moon to get him to talk.  Harley is ready to have her kicked out of Homeland on the spot.

I also enjoyed seeing the other Species in this book.  Justice gives a heartfelt speech to Moon and some of the other Male Species in this book that I just loved.  Want to know what Justice said or if Dr Yates treatment works on Moon you’ll have to read the book.

Laurann Dohner
I'm a full time ''in house supervisor" (Sounds much better than plain ol' housewife), mother, and author. I've been lucky enough to have spent two decades with the love of my life and look forward to many, many more years with Mr. Laurann. I'm addicted to iced coffee, the occasional candy bar (or two), and trying to get at least five hours of sleep at night.

I love to write all kinds of stories. I think the best part about writing is the fact that real life is always uncertain, always tossing things at us that we have no control over, but when your write you can make sure there's always a happy ending. I love that about being an author. My favorite part is when I sit down at my computer desk, put on my headphones to listen to loud music to block out everything around me, so I can create worlds in front of me.
