Angie J's Review:
I was surfing FB and noticed some ad or something for this zombie book. Well I luuuurves me a good zombie book so I went to Amazon and read the blurb. Hot damn! Loved it so I one clicked it. Then I friended the author and saw her book trailer and was even more excited to read this. Anywho, I took a day off from work and literally read this entire book from beginning to end on that day. I couldn't put it down. It has angst, tension, drama, SQUEEEEE Moments, and just so many "OMG" moments.
I loved the way the story unfolds . Eve is pretty much tired. Tired of running. Tired of fighting. Tired of looking for her sister so she thinks "maybe death is ok". Then she is rescued by a man who turns out to be GABE....the one who tore her heart into a millions pieces 4 years ago right before the Crave hit and took the world away. Needless to say they are both stunned to see the other. Eve is pretty pissed at what he did to her...but we the reader don't know until the flashbacks hit in the novel. Man are they timed PERFECT for the story. Each flashback gives you JUST enough to tease you until the final flashback is told and you know exactly what Gabe does to Eve. Man, i wanted to punch him in the nut sac and understood Eve's anger and hurt by him. ANY WAY, Eve and Gabe make an agreement to work together to find her sister. FYI I have no clue why because Eve's sister is a megga BEEEOTCH of epic proportions. YES sister Olive is alive and we see glimpse into her life and WOW!!!! Yeah I totally hate her and was PMing the author saying "please tell me she gets eaten???" LOL
Well Eve and Gabe go through a lot from her stealing from him (AWKWARD moment), fighting the zombies, meeting/losing/getting jealous over attractions to new friends and fighting/running for the Lurkers. OMG people these are some cray cray folks who EAT the dead....annnnnd the living!!! YEAH WAY intense scenes there when they are on the run.
My favorite part of the book when the final time Gabe tries to make it work with Eve. When he bares he heart and soul out for her. Man, I have to say he screwed up but he really mans up. I have a little girlie crush on Gabe. Gabe was a stupid kid and did bad stuff but we are all kids. Eve can't seem to let the hurt go and it made me yell at her a time or two but the ending is awesome. Their date....wow.....I was tearing up.
I cannot wait for book 2 but I fear that something Eve does in book 1 caused trouble for Olive and she will have major major major guilt. Wanna know? read the book people!!!!

the bench holding hands and laughing together.*
Angie J: Thanks for the tour Noah *Blushes cuz he is a
hottie and from what I hear single!!*
Noah: Anytime, Ang. I’m free later. *winks and
walks off*
Angie J: So I know you two are getting ready to leave
to go and search for Olive so I have a few questions is that ok?
Eve: Questions? *glances at Gage*
I wish I had my Craftsman right now.
Gage: Let’s not start with that
right now, k babe? Angie is cool, you know that. *smiles at Angie*
Angie J: Gage, when you kissed Eve after the
fighting at the plantation when you first arrived, what where you
thinking? Things seems to
get…ahhh….things got VERY hot but you shut it down quickly.
Gage: Ahh. *rubs the top of his
head* You just had to ask about that, huh? *Looks over at Eve who is smirking
at him* There were so many things going through my head. I’d just found Eve
again, after four years and she hated me. Hated my fucking guts, but that
didn’t stop her from wanting me. Her ridiculous actions pissed me off and
turned me on more than anything in my life. There wasn’t a damn thing that
could have kept me from kissing her.
Angie J to Gage : ANNND when Eve stole from
you *looks at Eve and makes a Sorry face*
did you think you two would be where you are right now????
Eve: *glares* It wasn’t stealing!
It was just—
Gage: It’s okay, babe. Don’t get mad. *turns to
Angie* No, not exactly. I was pissed the hell off, but I got over it. I understand
now, why she did it.
Angie J: Gage, the scene with Eve
landing face first in the spaghetti…..it was so sad. Eve sees your reaction. What were you thinking and why didn’t you
help her out? I mean I know you were a
kid BUT you were also a role model for other students.
Gage: *rubs the top of his head
again* Did you know that before the Crave the average American ate around
fifteen pounds of spaghetti per year?
Eve: That’s a good question.
*Turns to Gage with a loving, but questioning look on her face* We never talked
about that day…and you don’t get to avoid it with facts about pasta!
Gage: *focuses on Eve* It took
everything I had to keep from running across the cafeteria and punching Allison
in the face and Sally too, for treating you that way. That’s why I did nothing,
because if I had gotten involved, I would have physically hurt one or both of
them and then what kind of role model would I have been? There was no in
between for me.
Angie J: OK Eve sooo how is Sally with you and your
relationship with Gage? WE ALL know you
two weren’t BFF’s in school and since Gage choose you over her……..
Eve: Is she being serious right
now? *grabs at back for Craftsman that isn’t there* *huffs loudly in annoyance*
I haven’t seen Sally since the day we got into Eden. She’s kept out of my way.
I think she knows better. I have a feeling that won’t last forever, though.
Angie J: Eve are you happy here in Eden and how did
you feel one you knew Gage built this town for you???
Eve: *smiles at Gage* Eden is
beautiful, but that’s not why I’m happy. Gage makes me happy. I could live
under a rock with him and be just as happy. *squeezes Gage’s hand* I was really
shocked to find out he built all of this for me. No one has ever done anything
like that for me before….ever.
Angie J: Ok either of you can
answer but…EWWWW Why in the world would
people eat the jenks? That is sooo wrong
on sooo many levels. Like who thought of
that first and thought it would be a good idea. *Makes a vomiting face*
Gage: Desperation is my only guess.
But I sure as hell would never be that desperate. Once people got low on
supplies they turned to the one thing that the world was overrun with—the
gurghs. Nasty.
Angie J: I can see you are both ready to spend a
little “alone time” before the big adventure begins again. So here is my last quickie…..Whats up with
Noah? *wiggles my eyebrows*
Eve: *snorts* Am I the only woman
on the planet immune to him? You’d think he was God with the way the women hear
fawn over him. I bet he’s slept with whole town!
Noah: *steps around the side of
the courthouse* Now, Eve, not every woman in town. Ang is new here. *winks at
Angie* and want to finish giving her the tour of Eden…that is, if she doesn’t
mind? *smiles and holds out his arm*
Angie J: *Blushes* I would love to Noah!!
