Love Resisted

BLURB:
For Allie Baxter, love was never something she had to worry
about. She was loved by her friends, her family , her husband...until the day
it was ripped away. Losing love was the deepest pain Allie had ever endured, and
it was an agony she vowed to avoid feeling ever again. Crippled with guilt over
her loss, for five years Allie served her self-appointed exile from the daily
comforts offered by friends and family, only to return and attempt to fit
herself back into their open arms-even if she knew she didn't deserve it. Mike
Lawson was not something Allie expected; the love of a man was not something
Allie was prepared to want. The spark of desire that had long ago died inside
her suddenly returned, bringing the memories of her pain with it. She swore she
would never allow herself to love again...but how long could love be resisted?
JEN'S REVIEW
What a great second book from fabulous author, Melanie
Codina. So the stock price of Kimberly Clark and Kleenex went up for sure while
I read this phenomenal love story. Love Resisted is the second book in her Love
Series. This is the story of Allie, aka
Super Bitch, in Love Realized. We all fell in love with her then, but this is
her journey into finding love once again. This book had me hooked in the
prologue ....yes, I used my first box of
Kleenex... It is the story of dealing
with the trials and tribulations of life after death. After the losing, her
husband in a tragic accident, we find out that there is so much more to Allie
than just her humor. I was completely
engrossed in the way Allie's pain was detailed on the pages of this book. I
found myself wanting to just jump in this book and hug her. My surprise was
learning just how much Mike was able to balance out Allie. Mike's constant pursuit of this amazing woman
had me standing up cheering "Geaux Mike Geaux!" Mike had experienced
as much pain as Allie had and I so cried for him, too...there went that stock
increase I was talking about. One of my favorite scenes in this book is when
Mike comforts Allie at the graduation party of Jonathan. Allie is having a
major panic attack as the entire family is watching a video and there are some
scenes with her late husband Marc. Mike just reels her in and brings her off
the ledge before her family truly sees the impact on her face. ...2nd box of
Kleenex for me. I loved how Melanie showed Allie's vulnerability; it made me
love her so much more. Mike definitely had me falling in love, right then. My
heart was once again ripped to shreds when Allie told Mike he was
"lucky", I won't spoil this scene for you but believe me you will
definitely want to hit her and have some Kleenex handy for Mike. There is also
some great humor in this story that will have you laughing so hard you will
need that Kleenex. Melanie continues to give us the "super hero"
banter between Jake and Allie that we all loved in Loved Realized. We get some
major laughter that involves a night of Karaoke. Now, let me talk about some
serious hot sex scenes...whew, I needed that Kleenex to help fan myself after a
steamy truck scene, and then we get the romantic, make you wanna go cuddle with
your own man, scene in Mike's bedroom. I
loved how we still got to keep up with Jake and Gillian from Loved Realized. I
also loved how Mike's family was introduced to this amazing family. I can't
wait for Jason's story next. This was such a great book by a fantastic author
and an amazing friend. If you haven't read Melanie Codina' s Loved Realized
start there but don't miss Loved Resisted it is a must read folks. We even get
a bonus playlist that totally hits the hammer on the nail with this book make
sure you take listen after you read this great love story!!
About the Author
When not being ordered around by any of the kids, you can find her with her nose in a book or on the sideline of a soccer game cheering on one team or another. But that's mostly because she has a thing for the coach. When she is not doing all of the above, you can find her obsessed with a group of fictional characters all vying for a spot on the page of whatever she's working on. It's a fun and crazy life to lead, but wouldn't have it any other way
