The Mourning After
Adriane Leigh
Book Review by Brenda Wright
Book Blurb:
Haunted by a painful past, Georgia Montgomery escapes the memories
by buying a beach house on the North Carolina coast. She hopes a summer filled
with sun, sand, margaritas and best friends will heal her, but when an unexpected
visitor shows up, her past, present and future collide.
Georgia is instantly drawn to Tristan Howell, the bronze-skinned, golden-haired stranger with an easy smile and eyes the deepest shade of green she's ever seen. She tries to deny the depth of her feelings for him, but just like an addiction- one look, one touch, one taste is never enough. With Tristan she loses control of the lonely world she's constructed for herself and learns that moving forward isn't possible while she's still chained to the events of her past.
Before the summer is over friendships will be tested, hearts shattered and lives changed, and waiting for Georgia to find herself may destroy them all.

My Review:
I
received this book as an ARC for an honest review. I try not to read the book blurb before I
read a book. I like to be surprised
(usually). I was expecting someone
to die, like one of the main characters.
Whew, the “death” happens before the book. This is Georgia’s story about her life “after”....Hence
the name “The Mourning After”.
Georgia
is in a relationship with Kyle, has been for years. They live in Washington, DC. Kyle works long hours as an up and coming
lawyer. Kyle is one of the few people
that know her story and still loves her and understands her. Georgia has decided to buy a beach house in North
Carolina. She wants to turn it into a
bed and breakfast eventually. Kyle is
not happy about the decision. He doesn’t
want Georgia to be away for a whole summer to get the house cleaned up and
start the remodel. Georgia goes
anyway....she cannot pass up her dream.
She’s always wanted to live at the beach. Georgia calls her BFF Silas. Silas is a very good friend. He understands her and knows her secrets,
too. Georgia also calls her other BFF,
Drew. Normally Drew and Silas don’t get
along so well. But since they both love
Georgia, they put their differences aside.
Drew decides she cannot live without her new boyfriend and wants to
bring him to North Carolina, too.
Georgia is fine with that, as there is plenty of room. At the last minute, Drew tells Georgia that Gavin
(her boyfriend) is bringing along his friend, Tristan. Tristan recently got out of a bad
relationship and needs to get away.
Well
as you can imagine, Tristan is hot. As Drew describes him as “off the charts
hot”, Silas is ready to find himself a summer fling says “Is he single?” LOL I
love Silas!!!
Georgia
and Tristan are very much attracted to each other. Georgia struggles with her feelings for Kyle
and now for Tristan. This is a very good
story about feelings and emotions and secrets.
At the end, I was so glad to find out that there’s going to
be another book!!! You will be too!
The
book has some very hot and steamy scenes!!
WOW!!! Had to fan myself many
MANY times! I think I want to meet
Tristan!! HOLY CRAP!! Anyhow...... Here are some of my favorite quotes:
“With
that one seemingly innocent gesture, I knew he was trouble wrapped up in a
sexy, charming, seductive package.”
“It’s
okay, Georgia. If you’re not ready I won’t
force you. But I’m going to spend the
entire summer helping you come to the realization that you want me to.”
He sucked in a quick breath and then touched his lips to mine in a feather-light kiss. “I wanted it to be you. I always wanted it to be you.”
“Stay
with me, don’t go back to him. Stay,”
(this
one is my all-time favorite!!!)
“’Tell
me Georgia, does he make you come so hard you forget your own name?”
I
knew what it felt like to want someone so completely that it broke you inside
when you couldn’t have them.
