Thoughts from RomFest Gatlinburg, Tennessee 2013

Shew!!  That convention went by in the blink of an eye.  I was traveling with my friend and partner in crime Melinda.

We met up with our friend/author Melanie Codina (Love Realized is the name of her first book and we are currently doing a blog tour for it...cough cough...sorry the blogger in me needed to promote for her.)

We picked up Melanie at the local airport so we missed the Meet and Greet at the local bar down the road.  However, we had a blast at all the festivities through the week.

It started with some author panels where we got to meet the authors and learn a little bit about them.
I can say I am adding ALOT of TBR books to my already lengthy pile!!!

After the panels we had a fun High Tea Lunch. The Keynote speaker was Jayne Rylon.  She discussed her life of writing while being in corporate America.  Melinda and I made BDSM High Tea hats *giggles*  We even made mini floggers to attach to to the top.  Here is mine....*snickers* Hello Kitty is such a naughty flogger theme!!!

Here is what we looked like with the hats.....
After the high tea lunch we went to a few more author panels and attended the White Dinner (BOOOO we forgot to take pictures)

The REAL fun started AFTER the white party.  We went to Liz's room for a Beer 101 class.  Incase you don't know, author Liz Crowe owns a Brew tap room and makes craft beers.  We are big fans soooo we might have gotten some extra special gifts ;)  Thanks Liz!!!
(Also, Liz my husband loves the Beer Wench shirt.  He loves how tight it is across the chest and shows off my....EYES...yes we will go with my eyes here!!)
Here she is telling us the difference between Lagers and Ales.  We got to sample ALOT of yummy beers.  I found I enjoyed her Black Beer the best which kinda shocked me........

SOOOOO after a night of drinking *cough cough* Thanks Again Liz!!!  We slept in ;)

We woke up and get ready to attend the lunch with Keynote speaker Jacquelyn Frank.  She was alot of fun to listen to because she was very excited to chat about the subject of world building and rule breaking....

After we hit a few more author panels discussing BDSM, tattoos and body piercings....we got a few good "looks" at where some of the piercings people have and where they go!!!  All I gotta say is OUCH and WHY!!

We had a fun Wild West/Steampunk party thrown by Hilde McQueen and Ciara Knight.  We got to play games and then win prizes from the authors....boo we didn't win any :(   Soooooo we decided to go shop and hang out in Gatlinburg....uhm yeah, we kinnnda got caught in a downpour and ended up coming back to the conference looking like this.....
We got back and dried off for the Halloween party thrown by Secret Cravings and Sandy Sullivan. Melinda and I were grapes...lemme tell ya it was very hard to eat with this costume on.....
We got pictures taken with some of our favorite authors we street team for and just love to read....
 Us and Sandy Sullivan
 Us and Paloma Beck
Us and Liz Crowe

The last full day was the breakfast and book signing for authors Books A Million wouldn't let sign at the store.  We got to have books or our kick ass bag signed by Hilde McQueen, Ciara Knight, Paloma Beck, and Kim Law.

At Books A Million we got to meet and have books signed by a ton of great authors...here they are....

OK these two authors area a RIOT!!!!  Kate McKeever and Donna Wright ....seriously I fell in love with these two comedians.  They kept the party going!!!!  Check out their books for me peps!!!
Kinda a big deal here ....Jacquelyn Frank was in the house!!!  She was so nice and friendly.  She was so excited to talk about writing to us at the keynote lunch.
So My friend and Author Melanie Codina told me "Buy her and you wont regret it"....sooooo I did.  I can't wait to read her pick your own ending book...remember having those when you were a teen??
Ok so I am not a huge YA reader but this series sounded pretty cool...it is Paranormal sooo it is totally up my alley!!!  Jennifer Estep was very thoughtful and quiet but a very positive person.
SQUEEE!!! Joey Friggin Hill people!!  If you read BDSM and you know I do....She is a biggie.  She also has a paranormal series. I can't wait to get my hands on one of her books from Ellora's Cave to read!!!  I was bummed I was cash strapped and couldn't buy one of her books to get signed....oh well she did sign my bag.....
Soooo no surprize to any of my friends, we had to get Liz books signed.  I believe I am now a proud owner of alll her paperbacks and they are allll signed.....sign...TEAM EVAN all the way.  Jack is still a bit heart broken about the break up.

I LOVE me some Sandy Sullivan.  I street team for her with Melinda.  She writes some hawt cowboy erotica.  Give her a try because you will soooo keep coming back...i sure do!

Trista is the organizer for the RomFest event.  I haven't read anything so I had zero clue about what she wrote.  Man when I saw menage...cha-ching went the cash register!!  can't wait for this book either!!!

The last night was a Western party thrown by Destiny Blaine.  Her hubby was in the band that provided some fun music.  There were some raffle baskets so I igured "Eh why not just throw my last $10 in because the money goes to charity."......omg I friggin won the basket I wanted.  I won the Joey Hill prize basket.  I totally went nuts!!!
Here are a few fun Western Party pictures from the party night.....

As you can tell we had a great time.  We made some awesome connections plus met some new authors to read and review for.  I can say my 1st official convention was memorable and  look forward to planning some for 2014!!

The best part of my trip was coming home to this....

Falling Into Us by Jasinda Wilder ***BLOG TOUR***

Book Blurb:

THE STORY YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW...

When Kyle Calloway died, he took a part of Nell with him. She wasn’t the only one left to pick up the pieces, however; Kyle’s death left a gaping hole in the hearts and lives of his parents and his older brother Colton, and ultimately broke the will of the girl he loved.

THE STORY YOU NEVER IMAGINED...

Becca de Rosa is Nell’s best friend. When Kyle died, Nell was so devastated that no one could reach her, not even her best friend Becca. As she tries to help Nell through her grief, Becca’s own life is thrust into turmoil, and everything she knows is changed.

Jason Dorsey asked Nell out the week after her sixteenth birthday, but that date never happened. Instead, he ended up going out with Nell’s best friend, Becca. He had no way of knowing, then, how that one date would send him on a life-long journey with Becca. He had no way of knowing the tragedies and triumphs he would experience, or that in Becca, he might find the love of a lifetime.

THE HEARTACHE YOU’LL NEVER FORGET...

Book Excerpt:

I barely had the truck in park when she unbuckled my seatbelt and pulled me into a hot, wet kiss. I wrapped my arms around her, pulled her closer, felt my heart ratchet into a frantic patter at the wondrous crush of her breasts against my chest, her knee sliding between my thighs as she lifted up to deepen the kiss. I felt my breathing catch as her fingers curled behind my head, caressing the hairline on the back of my neck, holding me close, as if I’d try to pull away.

I rested my hands on her hips and couldn’t believe she’d let me touch her like this. Yet she wiggled her hips as if begging for more, so I risked taking more liberties, and slid my hands around to cup her ass. Oh, god, surely she could feel how crazy that made me. I didn’t know where this was going, but I liked it. It also scared me, because I felt consumed by her, taken over by the need for her. Hormones raged, but it wasn’t just hormones. Intellectually, I knew what came next, but I refused to think about that directly. I just knew I couldn’t stop kissing her, couldn’t stop touching her.

And then her fingers drifted up under the hem of my shirt and touched my bare stomach. Lord. Oh, god. I let my hand slide up her back and touched bare skin at the small of her spine. So soft, so warm. I caressed up farther, to her bra strap, each shoulder, stealing touches.

She was giving them to me, though, right? So they weren’t stolen.

My shirt was up around my diaphragm and her hands were splayed on my chest as she sat on my knees, her back to the windshield. Slowly, so slowly, I lifted her shirt up a bit, revealing more of her dark skin. She traced my chest, the lines of my abs, watching my eyes and staring at my body. The look in her eyes matched what I felt in myself.

Then a hint of pink peeked out from the bottom edge of her shirt and my breath was stopped in my lungs, but she didn’t halt my hands as they kept lifting her shirt. Skin, a glorious expanse of breast barely contained in a pink bra. Oh, shit. I was so hard I could explode with a thought. I needed to adjust myself, but didn’t dare. Her eyes were on me, full of daring, fear, nerves.

“God…damn Becca.” I could barely get the words out. “You are…so hot. So sexy.”
“So are you.” She brushed a thumb over my lips, eyes on mine from inches away.

I pressed my palms flat against her ribs, just beneath her bra. It was a question, a silent request. She released a pent-up breath and then nodded, a pair of frightened, excited jerks of her chin. I slid my hands up, cupped the weight of her breasts, pink cotton soft against my palms, and then I felt the hardened bumps at the center of the bra fabric against the heel of my hands and I knew what those were, and I was amazed that this was happening, that she was letting me do this.

Oh, god. Oh, shit. So perfect. Up, up, and up my hands slid to the slope of her breasts, skin on skin now, and I couldn’t breathe, but I didn’t need to because she was kissing me and giving me her own breath, exploring my chest and my sides and down to the waist of my jeans.

And then she was off me suddenly, sliding to the opposite end of the truck against the door. “God, Jason. We have to s-s-slo-slow down. This is going too f-f-f-fast.” She tugged her shirt down to cover herself, her breathing ragged.

I rubbed my face with my hand, unable to stop a hiss when my thumb bumped my nose. “Becca, I—I’m sorry. I guess I got carried away. I’m sorry.”

She came closer once more. “No,we did. It was me, too. I wasn’t justletting you touch me, I wanted you to. I wanted to touch you. B-bb-bbb-but…” She sucked in a deep breath and visibly composed herself. “We have to slow down. We’re only sixteen. We’ve only been dating for, like, three dates.”
“I know, I know. You’re right.” I felt responsible, even though she admitted she was as much at fault for getting carried away as me. “I should be the one to slow us down.”

She laughed at that. “Um, you’re a guy?”
I glared at her. “So that makes me unable to control myself?”

She giggled again. “No, no. Just, guys aren’t usually the ones to think about slowing down. The opposite, if I’ve heard right.” Her expression shifted into seriousness. “Have you…have you ever been with anyone else before?”

I wasn’t sure exactly what she was asking. “I’ve never dated anyone before.”
She shook her head. “No, that’s not what I mmmm-meant.” She didn’t exactly stutter the last word, more just drew out the initial sound before getting control once again. “I meant, have you been with anyone?”

I just stared at her. “No, Becca. When I kissed you in the parking lot at school, that was my first kiss.”
She seemed relieved for some reason. “Mine, too.”

Angie E's Review:

This book was AWESOME. It was everything I was waiting for and so much more. Jasinda never fails to give us the stories that make us laugh, love and cry. I was so excited when she annouced this book. I wanted so much more to see inside the lives of these characters. I loved reading Nell's journey but the small glimpses I got into Rebecca's life left me CRAVING so much more. So I'm not to proud to beg. I begged for a 2nd book and once again.....  =) Jasinda gave it to me.. OK.. maybe not MEEEEEEEEEE but to us all who wanted so much more.

I immediately fell for Jason. He surprised me with his sweet gentlemanly side. Very traditional. I liked that he followed the older dating traditions opening car doors and etc. HE made me want to be 16 again. I wanted to experience the FIRST with him.

Rebecca was also a surprise to me. She was unlike what I thought. She is seriously SMART which is one of her MANY attractive qualites. I loved watching her grow from the young shy study gal to a woman. I also enjoyed seeing her side of the first love and experiencing the "first".

As with the first book this book made me remember my past. I love that it brought up some of my own GREAT growing up moments and first. It also let me remember the not so great things of my past and make me more thankful for what I have.  I'm so glad that Jasinda gave us this book and wrote it in this style. I thought I wanted more Nell and Colt but after reading I realized that THIS was exactly what I needed. I needed to know more about the other characters. It gave me different perspective on the characters I already LOVED.

Jasinda =) LOVE YA... I"m so proud of you. I'm SOOO thankful that you took a chance and put these stories out for us fans. Thank you for ALWAYS being there for us and for ALWAYS being my Favorite Famous Author Friend with great advice. You are only going up from here . YOUR GONNA BE FAMOUS ! =) PS. Dont forget me (as if you really could)

Cover reveal for Alternate Connections by Chris Almeida and Cecila Aubrey

ALTERNATE CONNECTION is the third novel in the COUNTERMEASURE SERIES.

BLURB
CIA operative Nathan Nelson has built his life on secrets. Secrets about events that have shaped him into the man he has become. Events that taught him to keep his shields up. He has kept them buried in the past and nobody—not even Cassandra Bauer, the woman he claimed to love—knows of them. Now, those secrets have come barreling down on him at the worst of times.
Foreign Service Specialist Rachael Moore's personal crusade puts her in the crosshairs of very dangerous people. She would risk everything to achieve her goal even if it means exposing her battered heart and deeply concealed dreams to a man who doesn’t know the meaning of love.
Unbeknownst to both, their reconnection may not only bridge the chasm between the two of them, but shed light on a puzzling mystery. Their perilous journey becomes a race for their lives, leading them into a conspiracy rooted deeper than the tangled emotions between them.
Will their collaboration shatter the tenuous link woven in the past or forge a bond they never expected could exist in the future?

EXCERPT FROM CHAPTER 5
Nathan shook his head and pulled out the first folder containing the personal file of Gerald Blair, U.S. Envoy to the Middle East. The report was thorough and contained a detailed account of both his professional and personal life. He raised his eyes to Hanson. “Do you want to split’em?”
“Nope. I’m done with them. They are all yours.”
“When—?”
“While I waited for the fax. I’m a fast read, Nelson. Keep that in mind.” Hanson’s lips quirked in a cocky grin as he leaned his seat back and closed his eyes. His disheveled appearance and the hickeys decorating his neck a clear indication he needed some shut-eye. “Let me know when you’re done so we can discuss the details.”
Nathan sank in his own seat, his mind teeming with questions. Questions he didn’t think he would have answers to any time soon. He had a long analysis ahead of him considering he was also looking for pieces of a puzzle unknown to Hanson. Unlike Hanson’s, Nathan’s focus also encompassed the files belonging to the two agents and two drivers who’d been killed in the attack.
With that in mind, he returned his attention to the folder and began studying the first of the people they were supposed to know inside and out before they set off for ground zero. As he read through the pages, he looked for inconsistencies, hidden information, or activities that could have made Blair a target. Anything that could have put them all in the crosshairs of whoever had taken them.
The situation was more complex than the usual hostage kidnapping. While religious extremists were quick to claim responsibility, those who’d abducted the six remaining members of the diplomatic convoy two days earlier hadn’t made any demands through the media. They’d simply dropped off the radar as if they’d never been.
There had to be a reason for that divergence from the usual and that reason could very well be tied to Nathan’s prime directive. The answer could be in any of their past or present and, if he was to be successful, he had to find it.
He beat his way through Gerald Blair’s file and took notes as he moved through. Blair had been in extensive contact with Palestinians and Israelis—unavoidable contact since it was an integral part of his job to mediate peace in the region—and that in itself could have placed a target on his back.
Nathan set Blair’s file aside and moved on to the next in the bundle. As he flipped it open, his whole body stiffened in his seat. A buzzing noise flooded his ears, and his sight dimmed. His field of vision narrowed to the picture on the page and the name listed—Moore, Rachael. Status: Widow. Rae.
His blood iced in his veins. For a moment, he felt detached from reality expecting someone to pop up in the seat in front of him pointing a camera and screaming, “Gotcha!” He fixed his eyes on the file again. Phillip Moore’s wife. Was that why Hanson had made that comment about setting personal involvements aside? Nathan stared at her familiar image for a moment before diving in. Some of the information in it was known to him. Some was brand new. He read the declassified report on Phillip’s death with a heavy heart and the thumping in his chest rose to such a loud racket he thought it would wake Hanson from his beauty sleep.
The more he read about Rachael, the more his frown deepened. Why was she working at the embassy in Israel? How had she come to be assigned as a personal assistant to Blair?
Phillip had been crazy about her, and Nathan understood why as soon as he’d met her. At the time they met, she’d been working on a business associate degree with some difficulty due to the sudden transfer to the US. Neither had mentioned she dabbed in international politics back then. Had she made a career change after Phillip’s death? Guilt punched him in the gut and he held his breath, squeezing his eyes shut to keep self-flagellation at bay.
He’d gone through that cycle many times before. He wasn’t about to slide down that road again. If that was how he could redeem himself, he was going to take it.

Insight by Jamie Magee Blog Tour

Before that fateful summer night, Willow had balanced the insight of emotion, and the vivid images. That night, the figure in her nightmare marked her wrist with a star, giving her father no choice but to tell Willow a family secret that would abruptly change life, as she knew it, forever. Before Willow had time to absorb the shock of her father's secret, her soul mate that had shared every stunning dream with her, found her, and darkness captured her closest friends. In order to save them, she must weave through broken myths and the undeniable power of the Zodiac. In the end, Willow discovers that at the moment of our birth we are all given a divine gift.

Jo-Anna's Review:

The reason I chose to do this review is because I absolutely love YA novels and this one sounded very interesting. I had the pleasure of reading See by Jamie and I really liked it so I knew she wouldn't disapoint with this trilogy.

We meet Willow, a teenager who suffers from some heavy duty nightmares where she always wakes up frightened and is terrorized by a being of some sort but she never sees the persons face. She ends up finding out that dreams more then what she thought and finds a special someone in her dreams also.

Willow gets informed that she has special abilities and learns that someone has been searching for her for a long time. Her soul mate. *happy sigh*

The story is about love, fantasy, romance, and people coming together. The love they share with each other and their families is awe inspiring. Jamie does it again with this great read and I can't wait to read the rest!

Jamie Magee has always believed that each of us have a defining gift that sets us apart from the rest of the world, she has always envied those who have known from their first breath what their gift was. Not knowing hers, she began a career in the fast paced world of business. Raising a young family, and competing to rise higher in that field would drive some to the point of insanity, but she always found a moment of escape in a passing daydream. Her imagination would take her to places she’d never been, introduce her to people she’s never known. Insight, her debuting novel, is a result of that powerful imagination. Today, she is grateful that not knowing what defined her, led her on a path of discovery that would always be a part of her.
